Stormy weather was no match for Lee Peck Media as it braved extreme winds to compete in a brand-new sailing event yesterday. The agency fielded a team in TheYachtMarket.com Regatta and even the waves whipped up by gale force winds couldn’t dampen the group’s enthusiasm.
TheYachtMarket.com Regatta is a brand-new event which runs alongside the UK’s biggest boat show and aims to get more people out on the water. It’s been spearheaded by two of Lee Peck Media’s clients – TheYachtMarket.com and Rees Leisure.
In support of the new regatta Lee Peck Media’s Alyson and Laura pulled on their waterproofs and took part yesterday with a team of clients.
Laura said: “It was an incredible day. The wind certainly made for a lively morning of racing and one that we’ll remember forever. Luckily we were in very safe hands with our expert skipper but there were some heart-in-mouth moments, particularly when the boat tipped us to some questionable angles!”
Alyson added: “We have a reputation for creating high impact PR and it’s fair to say our adventures on the water had an element of drama thanks to the high winds. Our two clients have come together to create a fantastic event and we’re already excited about taking part again next year.”
While Lee Peck Media fared well in the first race of the day its endeavours in the second race were thwarted by damage to the boat. The yacht suffered a broken cable, which meant the foresail collapsed and the team was forced to pull out.
Laura said: “We may not have come first but we certainly win the most rock and roll team after managing to break our boat!”
