The University of Southampton engaged Lee Peck Media to maximise coverage for an independent report saying this global institution generated £4.14 billion of annual impact across the UK economy. Given the University’s total annual operational costs of £561m, this means it returns an impressive £7.40 for each £1 spent.
The findings came from the policy and economics consultancy London Economics’ Economic Impact Report into the university’s economic and social impact during the 2020/21 academic year.

Working closely with the University’s media team, the agency’s tasks included creating a strategy for generating maximum coverage; briefing journalists and producers; writing press releases; preparing messages for social media; briefing the University’s internal communications team; producing and scripting a video for social media channels and monitoring the output.
Highlights of the coverage included a front page on the main regional daily newspaper and substantial coverage of radio and television. Here’s a clip from BBC Southy Today: https://youtu.be/BLgQvu8jupU.
