GO! Southampton, the city’s Business Improvement District (BID), has appointed Lee Peck Media as its PR agency for corporate communications following a competitive pitch.
Funded and led by local business, the BID exists to implement improvements to the city centre with the long-term goal of realising Southampton’s potential as a world-class commercial and visitor destination.
Southampton’s BID is home to 650 businesses paying the BID ‘levy’, stretching from Bedford Place in the north down to the waterfront, Commercial Road in the west to Southampton Solent University in the east.
Lee Peck Media has been appointed to promote the ways in which GO! Southampton improves the trading environment for levy-paying businesses and the visitor environment for city centre users in Southampton City Centre.
GO! Southampton’s Chief Executive Giles Semper said: “We are going through a period of unprecedented opportunity. Major landmark developments such as Westquay South and the Cultural Quarter are now complete and further new and exciting developments such as the Bargate scheme and the new Mayflower Quarter will continue to enhance the offer. We are a major UK city but we can’t afford to stand still.
“The BID will continue to ensure that the city centre’s businesses are positioned to capitalise on these and other opportunities and to compete at a regional, national and international level. Lee Peck Media has an outstanding track record and can deliver important messages to our target audiences. We’re thrilled they’re on board.”
Laura Downton, account director at Lee Peck Media, said: “Southampton is a world-class city and the GO! Southampton account is very important to us. It’s vitally important that the city in which our business is based and many of our clients reside is not only prosperous in reality but is seen and heard to be prosperous.”
